Our Founding
When School Lunch Pals began in February 2023, we supported families that did not meet the Free and Reduced Lunch benchmark and developed an outstanding food balance. Funds raised went directly to my local school, Vernon-Verona-Sherril Central School District, to help pay off this accrued school lunch debt.
Recently, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School District qualified for Universal Free Student Breakfast and Lunch (CEP) provided by New York State. Because of this, School Lunch Pals have a new goal! Moving forward all funds raised will be evenly distributed between students who previously qualified for “Free or Reduced Lunch” to allow the purchase of second portions, snacks, and “Al-LaCarte” items not covered by CEP.
School lunch pals believe all students deserve a second meal or special treat. Our fundraising efforts will continue and with the continued financial support of our generous community and local businesses, we look forward to working towards this new goal.
